Reducing power consumption has long been a challenge in beneficiation plant. In mineral separation process, ball mill has the highest energy consumption. Therefore, reducing power consumption of ball mill is key in increasing economic benefit and realizing an energy-saving green economy. The power consumption of ball mill consists of three aspects.
The first one is active power consumption, which drives the machine to grind materials. The amount of power consumption depends on the quality of materials and rotating speed of ball mill. The active power consumption is more than 70% of the whole power consumption.
The second is reactive power consumption, which refers to the power consumption of the ball mill itself. It accounts for 5-10% of the whole power consumption. Besides, it will become a major breakthrough for researching and developing energy-saving ball mill.
The last one is power consumption caused by mechanical friction. Since friction exists in all types of machines, the power consumption is inevitable. But the more the power consumption caused by friction, the lower the active power will be.
How to make ball mill work efficiently with power conservation is a crucial issue that ball mill manufacturers face at present, which is of same importance for the sustainable development of mining machinery industry.
